Draw the Dog Classic: He’ll Be Fine – inspired by Hutchie

Get Adobe Flash player

A note from Bruce: Way back in the early fall when we started Draw the Dog, Jim created some amazing cartoons, like this one inspired by a dog whose adoption marked an especially emotional and wonderful moment in his owner’s life. Since so many people have found us in recent months, I got to thinking whether anyone has discovered these gems deep in our Archives. Please let us know in the Comments section (below the cartoon) whether you’ve seen this one before. Hope you like it!

If you haven’t already, add your email address, and we’ll send you a link every time we publish a new cartoon.

Love it, and hadn’t seen it! Am writing this on my deck on a lovely early spring afternoon with my own three rescue Shepherds lurking close by; all four of us can relate to the sentiments in this wonderful cartoon! :)

How did I miss this one – thanks for the laugh, as I pick up 3 more Greyhounds headed for foster homes, then soon, forever homes!

I have seen this one! It’s nice of you to bring back this funny gem. I can just imagine my Border Collie trying to do that…… hmmm.

After I discovered you, I went thru your whole list of drawings – it was a wonderful couple of hours!

Bruce and Jim, I have been enjoying “Draw the Dog” for a number of months, but do not think I saw this one. Very cute! All of your drawings are wonderful and are a wonderful way to start the day. You guys are outstanding!

love it….so many rescue dogs have a bit of separation anxiety.

Haven’t seen this one, but this is so my Abby.
If she has an inkling that I am going out she is just beside herself until I open the car door for her. She DOES NOT want to be left behind. (Someone once told me that when a dog watches you leaves, they think that they will never see you again).
For some strange reason this does not happen on Sunday morning when I get ready for church. She never even gets up as I walk out the door. Isn’t that strange?

never saw this one. reminds me of our Chessie, Reilly, who just crossed the bridge. when I adopted her she had terrible separation anxiety. came home from work one day to find her on the porch roof!! she’d put a hole in the window screen and gone out trying to follow me! she is missed, what a zest for life.

Bob Beyers April 2, 2010 at 2:39 pm

Keep the oldies coming. A lot of us haven’t seen them.

Sandra G April 2, 2010 at 7:14 pm

No I never saw this one. Ha..ha.. that was my one foster boy that I ended up adopting. He was so stressed at being left alone at home, I think he thought I wouldn’t come home again.

I have seen everyone since I “joined” up for a laugh a day! But not this one, so must have been before I knew your great cartoons.
Alas, our newest rescue can’t stand for you to even leave the room. She has chewed up many peoples, chewed holes in hand stitched quilts that took me several years to complete, ate the corner off of not one but two health chairs that ran a great $4000.00 together. But, it’s kind of like marriage is supposed to be. Till death do us part. Hopefully she will learn we are not dying yet and will begin to trust we will return from the bathroom, the yard, the laundry room!

Joyce O'Kelley April 2, 2010 at 9:35 pm

Ha! Had to laugh at myself. No she doesn’t chew up peoples. Pillows yes., Just goes to show edit what you type or you will appear as spacey as your spacey pups!

Great! No, had not seen this one. Sure gets the point! Glad you started this great site, I “talk” it up every chance I get at the Vet Clinic where I work.

Helen April 5, 2010 at 12:55 am

Francisca Torres April 6, 2010 at 3:14 pm

This is so funny!
I really love it, happend once in my house…
(the dog INSIDE the car.. lols!)

Kristen April 6, 2010 at 5:24 pm

That one is great. It’s exactly what my APBT Mush would do if he could! He’s a rescue (neglected & abused) and has severe separation anxiety. He’s stuck to me like glue each day and needs lots and lots of love. It was nice to laugh about something that can actually be difficult to deal with.

Margherite May 18, 2010 at 9:29 pm

I hadn’t seen this one. Love it. I laughed out loud!
