I LOVE THIS. I don’t even know Sandy, but I wish I did! Amazing how a cartoon can capture such attention and love.

Thank you,
Kb

Is that a Basenji on top of the cabinet?

Jude Stringfellow February 6, 2010 at 5:01 pm

I like the weenie dog looking over the top of the computer. My weenie dog would be sleeping on top like the Basenji as he has to be at the highest level all the time until bedtime, then it’s always under the cover trapping my legs.

This is how much fun I have when my Saint Bernard sits by while I blog fior her on http://www.youpet.com

What a wonderful tribute to veterinarian Dr. Nancy Kay (www.speakingforspot.com) who is teaching all of us to be great medical advocates for our canine companions. The magic of Jim’s drawings and his way of telling stories continues to blow me away with each new drawing. The spotted dog represents “Sandy” who is the cover dog on Dr. Kay’s book Speaking for Spot. Sandy was one of the first graduates of the Marin Humane Society’s “Pen Pals of San Quentin” program matching shelter dogs with prison inmates for socialization and training (http://marinhumanesociety.org/programsservices/penpals/index.html). Kudos to Jim and Bruce and Dr. Kay and Marin Humane Society!

Oh, I love Dr. Nancy Kay! She wrote a wonderful story about how much happiness dogs bring into our lives here…

OMG, about the time I opened this e-mail, my husband walked into my office and commented about 6 dogs being within 8 feet of me. 3 Danes on the floor, 1 Mastiff (fostering for Big Dogs Huge Paws) curled up next me. My 9 lb puppymill rescue on my desk and my 20 pound female mix running the show from “her” chair. I love it!!!!

Thank you for honoring Dr. Kay with your awesome cartoon. You surely captured her in her “natural state”–surrounded by the dogs she loves.

Wow, was I thrilled and blown away when I received my daily “Draw the Dog” cartoon this morning! I am so flattered to be the subject of Mr. George’s artwork. Talk about intuitive- it just so happens that I sit at the end of my long kitchen table with a large hutch behind me when I am doing my writing. I have dogs at my feet, some with noses in my lap pleading, “Isn’t it time to go for a walk!?” And, I always have my coffee mug sitting just to the right of my laptop. I’d say that Mr. George hit the nail on the head with this one! By the way, for those of you who might be wondering, Sandy is the girl on the cover of my book, Speaking for Spot. This author is profoundly appreciative. Thanks to everyone at drawthedog.com.

Best wishes,
Nancy Kay, DVM
