Thank you from Jim and Bruce: Yesterday, more people visited Draw the Dog than any day since we started. A lot more, and we know why. It’s because of you. You’re sending notes about Draw the Dog to your friends on Facebook, to your neighbors and colleagues, and even to newspapers, magazines and blogs. Many of you with your own blogs have written incredibly nice things about this site.

We try and keep words to a minimum on this site, and let Jim’s cartoons speak for you and your dogs. But we couldn’t let this day pass without saying a huge THANK YOU! We really, truly appreciate it.

The happiest people we know get an email every time we publish a new cartoon. If you haven’t already, give us your email address and never miss a Draw the Dog cartoon.

SO true! But it’s no secret with my Malinois! He is the biggest TEASE! He will “drop it” just to try to draw you into going for it so he can dive on it again and then gets a big grin on his face. I can just hear him saying “na, na, na, na, na” :-) He would MUCH rather tug than just plain fetch and will even hold the ball with only 2 teeth to give the silly human that thinks they might win more to grab. But using 2 identical toys allows the fetch game to work correctly :-) GREAT drawing! Love the skid marks/ruts! “It’s all fun and games till someone loses an arm” LOL

Way to go, Jim & Bruce. We love telling new folks about you? Are you on Twitter? Bob hasn’t been tweeting much lately but he’ll be starting up again on the first of February. Bob would love to Tweet with you.

My youngest pit bull, Luna, fetches with herself. She’ll grab a tennis ball, run to the nearest chair or couch, jump up, and toss the ball across the room. Then she grins, leaps down, chases it, snatches it up, and repeat! I’ve seen this go on for a good half hour.

Then, when she gets tired, she decides to share. She jumps up on the couch next to you, tosses the ball, and stares at you pointedly as if to say “you threw it for me the other day, now YOU fetch!”

We’re on Twitter as drawthedog, but we aren’t that active…

THis is great, I cannot tell you how many time I have seen this with my own dogs. THey love to play fetch and bring it back but when you go to get the ball they grab it first and run with it. I have another dog, Isabell, that when you throw it she will go out there put her nose on it like “I touched it” then run back to you and sit down. Basically stating yep I got it but now its your turn to fetch it. She is such a brat, but I love her to death.

This reminds me of our late “Junkyard dog” – a tweenie dachshund named Karl. You could literally lift him several feet off the floor by the tennis ball he fetched!

This cartoon portrays Spencer beautifully! Thank you, Jim and Bruce. I love it!

Great Cartoon–so true!!

When I read that you had more hits yesterday than any day, I instantly thought of the cats! I’m betting, since you posted the ‘toon about “King” two days ago (cats are night animals, so it took a day to get the word out), the cats went and told their friends to check it out. I don’t have any cats, but I know they are sneaky, and they can get onto laps and computers, and secretly sneak on the computer with their mouse-clicking skills!

Love the site!

Sandy January 30, 2010 at 9:39 pm

Yup, love April’s point….cat keep people so why not their computers? I’ve featured Draw the Dog (with your permission of course) on my blog a couple times and I always get “thank yous” back. Some people start their day with caffeine, others with Draw the Dog! You ROCK!

Cindy Papale January 30, 2010 at 11:47 pm

This is way too cool! Love this Draw The Dog! I wonder how my Tabby would look!!!!!

You Rock!!

Nancy January 31, 2010 at 12:23 am

Yep; you are a favored part of my morning. I am delighted that Sandy introduced me to your site. Thanks for the morning smiles.

Congratulations to Jim and Bruce for the success! You deserve it!!

:-D

That is my Abby exactly! She loves fetch but not as much as tug of war. Love your toons. Keep up the great work. How does someone “inspire” you. Do we have to send in a picture or a thought?

Jane January 31, 2010 at 2:06 pm

I look forward to getting your e-mail every morning. I always try to guess what your drawing will look like from the caption. I am normally wrong! Your drawings are much better! Truly awesome.

You can submit stories and photos via our “Make Your Dog Famous” page…

Joe McDonald February 1, 2010 at 4:36 pm

Our little westie Shayla must feel that way. It almost always turns into a tug of war or a good game of keep away.

Joanna February 2, 2010 at 8:05 pm

That fits our Keeshond Apache to a T! Tug is his favorite game because he can really get the impression that he’s the one in charge!
