GREAT Cartoon! I have two Dobermans in a Matrix…. I finally had to find a way to keep them in the back of the car…. that beeeppppp can be heard three states away!

Only other dog people understand when you talk about getting a new car and taking a tape measure with you to see if your crates are going to fit…

Very funny! I love how you waited till the end to draw in the dog.

Years ago, we were traveling with our miniature poodle and stopped for lunch. We hadn’t even got our meal when we heard a Beeeeeepppp. It took a few seconds but we realized it was coming from our car. Our dog was in the drivers seat trying to see out the front window and was stepping on the horn.

Also, when we only had 2 greyhounds and were looking to buy a new car, we brought them with us to make sure that they would fit in the car we chose. The car salesman thought we were nuts but allowed us to give it a try.

I once saw a small car with a great dane in it. He had his butt and back feet on the back seat, his front feet on the center console/front seat and his head through the sun roof with Doggles on, which added to the funny scene!! :-) He/she definitely had EVERYONE’s attention and seemed to enjoy that!

@Joanne, I know exactly what you mean. Our two greyhounds were a big part of our decision on which larger car to buy. And buying a larger car was a part of our decision to get a third. :)

I can’t tell you how much I love coming to this site every day! It’s as though you were secretly filming my life with our dogs. Such a wonderful way to start the day and the bonus is to read the responses from other dog lovers like myself. Thanks so much for all your drawings!

Love this one!
Reminds me of when my male P.Welsh Corgi “Monroe” was sitting on the steering wheel (facing rear) of my Toyota Tacoma pickup during an intense inning at my daughter’s softball game. Embarrasing? That doesn’t EVEN describe it. :-)

Thanks guys.. This is wonderful. I do have to admit.. we have been shopping for a larger truck, or a mid sized SUV for a while now. But its hard to find something up to the oh-so-picky standards of my Great Dane and Bull Mastiff mix. Luckily the cattle dog is happy as long as he gets to ride shotgun with his seat belt on. :)

This is great! I had a doberman that took the honors of sitting in the driver’s seat when I made quick stops at the post office. Every time I went in the door, the horn blew… as soon as I stepped out, it stopped, then I went in, the horn blew…I stepped out it stopped…it continued this way for a few minutes. I finally just went in and took care of my business. At that point the horn was blowing and a man walked in and asked…”is that our dog?” My only reply was, “yes…I have an impatient dog!”

We went through this too. With two basset hounds we needed a car that could accommodate their length (height not really an issue with bassets!) and that was low enough to the ground that they could jump into easily. The salespeople thought we were nuts as we ruled out cars with back seats that didn’t fold down flat and as we pulled out the tape measure to check the height from the ground to the back door and tailgate. But it was worth it; they have all the room in the world in the back of the RAV4 with the back seats folded down and it is officially “their” car.

I love the way you so depict all of our wonderful “furkids”. I relate to all of your super drawings, your the best.!! We also took our 3 Greyt’s with us when we made the decision to upgrade to a larger car. The salesman was very good natured when we asked if our girls could step inside the van to make sure they fit comfortably.

He was a smart salesman and wanted to make sure he made a sale
Now we have 5 Greyt’ girls and they love traveling in their ” hound mobile”. Of course we had to remove all of the back seats to make it extra cozy.

Can’t wait to see tomorrows drawing. Really starts my day off with a smile!!

Hilarious! That’s why I got a Honda Element for my two Berners and one Saint Bernard. I, of course, take the seats out, so it looks like a van behind.

funny please do a schiperkee cartoon

NoBite January 27, 2010 at 10:02 pm

Yep, count me in, too. We moved from a truck with an extended cab to a full-fledged king cab when we added two more Dobermans. We sold a living quarters horse trailer and bought a 5th wheel with a living room and slide-out when we got the two new dogs, too. Seems like everything changes with new additions to the family! Now we are strongly considering going from a queen-size bed to a king. You know why!

karissa January 27, 2010 at 10:18 pm

hahahah thats cute and very true, thanks for the laughs!

Had to upgrade to a mini van with fold down seats when I got my second Mastiff. The little two door coupe just wouldn’t cut it with 350 lbs. of dog!

I used to have 2 Great Danes in my little VW Golf. It was fun! :) Had to get rid of the MG after the first Dane turned 7 months old, though…
