There is no photo that inspired today’s cartoon, because you’d have to be a lot better connected than we are to get a photo. But don’t leave without taking a look at Gentle Giant, another photo from Chantel Johnson of her little daughter and giant Great Dane. (They inspired Friday’s cartoon.)

I LOVE your website and artwork….I am particulary thrilled with Dog Heaven #364…recently had to put down my K9 soulmate Morby and this cartoon helped me to laugh…thank you.

This did make me laugh this morning… I am still very much missing our German Shepherd Dog, Mitzi, who we lost to lymphoma back in May. She would so appreciate this Dog Heaven. Thank you!

But…but…but, my idea of heaven is to be surrounded by my doggies that have gone on to heaven. where in the world am I going to sit? LOL

Not only is this special and one gets a tear because of the 4 girl dogs that Passed away. I have a boy dog now Vito, and I hold him close. The love we have for our pets we cannot measure..

We recently lost our “Queen of the Universe” dachshund, Heidi – thanks for making me smile to see her in the front of the crowd on the steps! The only things missing in your picture are the donut trees and the pizza bushes!

Just got an inspiration for a follow-up to #364 Dog Heaven: how about a cartoon showing “Rainbow Bridge” with all the animals frolicking waiting for their humans? (I’ve always pictured a big beautiful part with a bridge and a rainbow in the background…)

I’m thinking it might help some people with their grieving process–

This was the first of your cartoons we ever saw. It was right after we lost our 16 year old terrier-pointer mix, a really great dog, Finn. You have no idea how much it helped to laugh and cry at the same time. I just want to say thank you.

That would diffidently be my dogs heaven!! I love to think that our beloved pets have a special place in the afterlife too! I like the comment that they are waiting for us to play with them when it’s our time to go!!

Katybeth July 24, 2010 at 4:15 pm

LOL..silly me, I thought the first thing most pups would want to see on the other side of the pearly gates were their humans…I think I might have it backwards….that the first thing most humans would want to see on the other side of those gates are their pups!

I work in a church and I have it on pretty good authority that you’ve captured it properly. p.s. my greyhound goes to work with me every workday!!

PAMELA S July 24, 2010 at 4:58 pm

I have always loved that saying “If there are no dogs in heaven, then I want to go where they go”….Being “older” I have a lot of pups waiting for me on the other side of the pearly gates, but I have two old doggies to take care of here before I can go see them again. I like thinking that my other poochiepoos are having fun with all the socks and such to play with so I know they are doing well and happily waiting for us.

Love this-looks like dogs entering will have a real fun time. Thanks

Joan Willner July 24, 2010 at 6:23 pm

They love all this stuff and will be in heaven really when entering.

Does the sign on that pile in the far back corner say “Balls” — as in tennis balls? I hope so, for the (heaven’s) sake of one of my Boxers. :-)

sniff

heather July 25, 2010 at 12:47 am

Love it.

Lori July 25, 2010 at 1:37 am

Love this…. it looks to me that the only thing missing is the heaven size mattress for napping. I bet it is behind all of the toys in a nice quiet spot.

Chantel July 25, 2010 at 3:33 pm

Oh how lovely…..sure makes you feel a little better with the thought that Dog Heaven might be a GREAT place for our furry friends to wait for us. Another wonderful drawing. Thanks ~
